Temporary foster families are a temporary safe place for animals that are not yet ready for adoption or have unfortunately not yet found their home, so, a THF welcomes an animal for a period of time that is usually short but unpredictable.

The cases where THF are indispensable are:

• Cases of abandonment where animals are taking risks and have nowhere to go
• Cases where due to surgery or for health reasons the animals have to have a greater attention and vigilance
• Cases where due to past trauma need a familiar environment to regain confidence
• Other cases where animals need a family environment and special care.

The Abandoned Pets Portugal supports all animal expenses that are the responsibility of THF and will share it until get a definite family for it.

To be an THF of an Abandoned Pets animal you just need to like animals, be able to welcome the animal and have lots of love to give it.

Sometimes the THFs find in the animal temporarily hosted an animal for life, when these cases happen the THFs always have priority in the adoption of the animal even if it there ir other interested parties.

The work of the THFs is extremely important and of unlimited generosity.
